Early Learning

Early Learning

The Early Learning program includes federally funded Head Start and Early Head Start and state funded Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) and serves more than 4,700 children and families in King and Pierce counties. We provide grant management, liaison with state agencies, offer training, technical assistance, professional development, and overall program coordination.

Preschool (Head Start, ECEAP)

Is a preschool program for three- and four-year-old children and is free to eligible families who meet income guidelines. The program provides early childhood experiences such as:

  • Learning activities
  • Social development and problem solving
  • Nutritious meals and snacks
  • Health screenings and follow-up
  • Family support services
  • Family engagement and leadership opportunities

Each classroom has teachers who work with parents to design individual learning plans. Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the classroom and extend their child’s learning and growth at home.
