PSESD is proud to honor two of our team members included among the 5 awarded the Champions for Children 2023 honor — Arely Maya Dominguez, PSESD Latinx Family Advocate, and Carolyn Solitaire, Transformation Team member!
Arely Maya Dominguez

Since the launch of the Latinx Family Advocacy Program in April 2022, Arely has cultivated a place where Latinx families feel safe, speak their languages, share cultural experiences, and to feel seen and heard. Beginning with support for just six families, Arely has continued to tirelessly make new connections with other resources and has now supported and touched the lives of over 104 families in her community, in events that bridge the gap between parent and school, and the school and the Latinx community!
Carolyn Solitaire

Beyond her role in the PSESD Transformation Team, Carolyn works constantly to share information that educates and benefits local families — especially those furthest from opportunities. She most recently supported a special project with Washington State Parent Ambassadors to share information about the Working Families Tax Credit, sharing information with over 1000 in her community via food banks and community events, handing out flyers to help families gain awareness of vital information that would help and support them.
Through the Pierce County Early Childhood Network, 5 people are awarded as Champions for Children in Pierce County each year. Learn more here: https://www.pcecn.org/cfc2023/#champs.
