As the largest pow wow in the United States, the Gathering of Nations has grown in the past 42 years into one of the most vibrant, cultural, and important indigenous festivals in North America, as well as one of the world’s most recognized annual cultural festivals. It was founded to offer an opportunity to provide Native people with the opportunity to come together each year to celebrate and share their culture, as well as providing an essential place where singers and dancers can feel confident that competition is fair to all.
The Gathering of Nations dedicates itself to providing the support gathered from the lessons handed down from the elders to those of the younger generations. It is an experience for the heart, mind, and soul, rooted deeply in culture and blood.
As Flint Carney, a longtime friend and member of the Kiowa tribe, noted, “The greatest thing about the Gathering of Nations is the respect that is shown to all Native people of the world.”
The 2025 Gathering of Nations Powwow takes place April 24–26 at the Tingley Coliseum at EXPO New Mexico. Events include dances, music performances and the Miss Indian World competition.
