Managing behavior issues, like reducing conflicts during recess, can be complex. That’s why Bethel School District has been investing in staff training focused on effective behavior management strategies.
Jessica Hannigan recently visited a few of their schools. Jessica is a nationally recognized expert who supports schools and districts in designing and implementing strong social-emotional and behavioral systems. She is no stranger to Bethel -- before the school year even started, teachers, administrators, and leaders from every school and department in the district gathered for an inspiring session with Jessica and John Hannigan.
Bethel has been collaborating with the Hannigans ever since, and this recent visit was another opportunity for them to enhance behavior systems and support their students’ success.
Jessica kicked off her visit by observing a school Behavior Team meeting at Shining Mountain Elementary, giving them guidance and answering questions. Then she visited classrooms to see how the Behavior Team's work was being implemented. She spoke with teachers, and even students, to get their perspective. After Shining Mountain, she also visited Evergreen and Spanaway elementaries.
Bethel School District is committed to creating the best learning environment possible for its students, and that means investing in their educators' growth. After all, they note, "when we learn and grow, our students do too!"
