Mark your Calendars for Zooming In and Zooming Out on Inclusionary Practices

In celebration of #InclusiveSchoolsWeek, we’re excited to share this free opportunity for educators and families to learn from expert practitioners Shelley Moore and Katie Novak in a three-part series, Zooming In & Out on Inclusionary Practices.

In celebration of Inclusive Schools Week, Washington state’s Inclusionary Practices Professional Development Cadre is eager to announce a free opportunity for educators and families to learn from expert practitioners Shelley Moore and Katie Novak in a three-part series, Zooming In and Out on Inclusionary Practices.

Superintendent Chris Reykdal kicks off the series with a live welcome on January 11, 2023. He’ll be joined by Moore and Novak, who will explore specific stories about what inclusive practices look, sound, and feel like for individual students (zooming in), while also examining the necessary complex change work needed for inclusion to fully be realized (zooming out). Please share this information widely with your networks.

Throughout the series, participants will:

  • Consider a case study of a student with disabilities and how the system impacts the student, family, and school.

  • Introduce Implementation Science and Improvement Science as drivers of inclusive and equitable systems.

  • Consider how to shift IEPs by recentering student voice in the process.

  • Address leadership barriers and competency barriers such as co-teaching expertise to ensure that effective systems are in place to support all learners.

  • Consider the irony of UDL.

  • Address competency and implementation barriers to ensure that all learners and educators are supported.

Virtual meeting dates: January 11, February 6, and March 27, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. PT

Meetings are live captioned and recorded. Clock hours are available at no charge.

Register by March 27th at 2:00 PM, visit www.bit.ly/ZoomingInAndOut for more information!
