Officially known as Juneteenth National Independence Day, Juneteenth is a federal U.S. holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States while celebrating the resilience and strength of the Black community across the years. Here's your opportunity to celebrate from June 17 through June 21, with our specially assembled calendar that spotlights the rich array of Juneteenth celebrations you can attend throughout Puget Sound.

Wednesday, June 17

SESSC Juneteenth Street Gathering

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Celebrate Juneteenth, freedom and African American culture at Southeast Seattle Senior Center! Enjoy good vibes, great company, and meaningful moments at a free event for all ages.

Kenmore Juneteenth Celebration

Join the third annual Kenmore Juneteenth Celebration at the Hangar in Kenmore Town Square from 3-7 p.m. at Kenmore Town Square, free for all ages. This community event includes interactive booths, performances, speakers, activities, crafts, educational materials, giveaways, and more – held in conjunction with the Kenmore Farmers Market.

Thursday, June 18

Atlantic Street Center’s 25th Annual Juneteenth Celebration

From 5-8 p.m., join the Juneteenth celebration at the Rainier Beach Community Center for live performances, local vendors, food trucks, speakers, and more. Free for all ages.

Washington Historical Society 2026 Juneteenth Commemoration

Join the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma in commemorating Juneteenth with an evening of free programming that will feature remarks and a performance by Eva Abram of Rainwater Storytelling, singer and musician Jason Turner, musician Naby Camara from Guinea, African dancer and drummer Baba Kauna Mujamal, and Kamau Ron Taplin.

Juneteenth Celebration Maple Valley

This Juneteenth celebration at Lake Wilderness Park, Maple Valley, takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. and is free for all ages. The festivities will include a flag raising ceremony with special guest speakers, live music, food trucks, activities, resources, and more.

Free Entrance Day at Washington State Parks!

Today, all Washington state parks that charge admission will be free to everyone in honor of Juneteenth. Includes Washington State Parks, plus lands managed by the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW).

Juneteenth Washington Celebration (Tacoma)

The largest Juneteenth Event in Washington State takes place from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at Haub Family Field at LeMay Car Museum (2702 E. D. Street, Tacoma) and includes performances by Erica Campbell of Mary Mary, Lyfe Jennings, and gospel artist Crystal Aikin. The Haub Family Field at Lemay Car Museum is located across the street from the Tacoma Dome. All on ONE stage. ONE night. ONE powerful celebration!

Africatown Summer of Soul Juneteenth Festival

The Africatown Summer of Soul Juneteenth celebration is a day of “music, food, and education honoring the resilience and resistance of our ancestors,” at Jimi Hendrix Park, Seattle. Takes place from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Seattle Juneteenth Community Celebration Honoring Black Economic Freedom

On Juneteenth 2026, “The Yard” is activated, blending the vibe of an HBCU-style homecoming with an Urban Block Party. Starting at 9 a.m. at The Union, Seattle, a Seattle Juneteenth Community Celebration honoring Black economic freedom, creativity, innovation, and culture. HBCU alums know The Union as the indoor gathering space and The Yard as the open, central green‑space (or plaza) that functions as the campus’s heartbeat and cultural stage. Celebrate Juneteenth at NAAM

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., celebrate Juneteenth Seattle 2026 at NAAM (The Northwest African American Museum) and Judkins Park! Free for all ages, this year’s program is called “The Sound of Connection.” From vibrant programs across the Museum and Judkins Park to the return of the beloved Skate to Freedom Party, this year’s celebration will feature local artists, Community Conversations, hands-on family activities, Living Voices performances, a FIFA World Cup watch party, local organizations, small businesses, food vendors, sports activations, and more.

South Hudson Music Project Presents: Divas of Soul: A Juneteenth Celebration

South Hudson Music Project Presents Juneteenth, a Community Celebration! Winter in America is an homage highlighting Gil Scott-Heron’s and Brian Jackson’s inspirational music, poetry, and original spoken word. The show engages today’s audience with Scott-Heron’s and Jackson’s signature themes: the African-American experience and unity in the struggle for justice everywhere. Featuring some of the best artists in the Pacific Northwest, takes place from 7:30 PM – 11:30 PM at The Royal Room Seattle, 5000 Rainier Ave S, Seattle.

Juneteenth at the Beach

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., this event takes place at the Edmonds Waterfront Center against the beautiful backdrop of Edmonds Beach, with free food, live presentations, and activities for all ages, including a children’s book reading room and arts and crafts, a free movie screening of “John Lewis: Good Trouble,” and a food drive for the Edmonds Food Bank (please bring a can!).

Tukwila’s Sixth Annual Juneteenth Commemoration

From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., come to the Sullivan Center at Tukwilla Village for a free event celebrating emancipation and the opportunity to honor African Americans through continued learning and understanding of the impacts of slavery and resiliency. The first 150 attendees will get a free meal from Kayla’s Kookin’!

Juneteenth at the Park

Come to Jimi Hendrix Park in  Seattle from 12 to 8 p.m. for a free celebration featuring a full day of live performances, vendors, family activities, and more. RSVP using the link!

Juneteenth Celebration: a Road to Economic Freedom

At LeMay America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, join in for a day that celebrates freedom, culture, and building wealth together on the path to economic empowerment. From 12 noon, this event includes live music, food, kids’ activities, marketplace, and a car and bike show.

Juneteenth Celebration at Twanoh State Park (Forest Beach)

From Friday, June 19 through Sunday, June 21, come to Twanoh State Park  (12190 WA-106, Union, WA 98592) for an unforgettable Juneteenth celebration! Free admission on June 19 beginning at 7 a.m., with a Discover Pass required June 20–21.

The Posh Pescatarian, operating from the historic concession building  inside Twanoh State Park in Union, offers a special Juneteenth menu  including Seafood Jambalaya, a Juneteenth Hot Link Plate,  and Peach Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream. This is one of the final weekends that Twanoh's main day-use area will be  fully open before a yearlong restoration closure beginning July 5.

Run Juneteenth at the Park

From 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., come to Lincoln Park, Seattle for the Juneteenth Day Run, an event that celebrates freedom, community, and the unbreakable human spirit. There is a family fun run, 5K, 10K, and a half-marathon! Price: $30+, and appropriate for all ages.

Kent Juneteenth Celebration

At Morrill Meadows Park, Kent, Michael Powers will entertain along with local talent to celebrate Juneteenth in this all-ages free event! Takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with complimentary cultural food served at 12:30 p.m.

NAACP Snohomish County Juneteenth Celebration

Taking place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Martha Lake County Park, Lynnwood, this free event will feature a BBQ, vendors, music, games, and dancing for the whole family to enjoy, honoring the past and celebrating the present!

Juneteenth Community Celebration

Come to Seattle Art Museum from 12-4 p.m. for a free Juneteenth celebration where the museum will come alive with DJs, live performances, and hands-on art making! And don’t forget to grab a free museum ticket from the community partner tables.

A Juneteenth Weekend Celebration - REVIVAL

The Annual REVIVAL Market (in collaboration with ULMS EcoDistrict) takes place from 12:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Midtown Square (2301 E Union St, Seattle). Join this Juneteenth celebration rooted in community, culture, and connection on Saturday, June 20 at the annual REVIVAL Market. Celebrating its 5th year, the Market will feature Black-owned businesses, creatives, and organizations from across the region for a weekend that honors legacy, joy, and collective presence in the Central District.

Auburn Juneteenth Celebration

Participate in community fellowship, support local small businesses, and learn from community leaders for the Auburn Juneteenth celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Les Gove Park, Auburn. Free for everyone, the event includes the chance to enjoy local artists and musicians with activities for kids of all ages.

First Annual Chosen Community Cookout

Come to Dash Point State Park, Tacoma, for an all-ages  “BYOB Potluck!” The grills are getting lit, and the music is turning up. Join the First Annual Chosen Community Cookout for a whole day of food, culture, laughter, and celebration in honor of Juneteenth and Father’s Day.
