In-Person Classroom CubeSat Flight Experiments Training for Educators
Students work together to build a Cubesat.

Seattle-area educators, now’s your chance to inspire your students with the wonders of space through in-person professional development for K-12 teachers and informal educators, with "Classroom CubeSat Flight Experiments Training," via Teachers in Space!

CubeSats are miniaturized, cube-shaped satellites that are frequently built by universities and research institutions to conduct science experiments and test new space technologies, and which are primarily used in Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

With this training, educators will learn to build a working CubeSat with onboard sensors and Arduino Microcontroller, in an introductory course created to teach educators everything they need to know in order to build a CubeSat experiment with their students.

Classroom CubeSat flight experiments are primarily designed to provide students and educators with hands-on STEM training through the complete life cycle of a space mission. By building and flying these standardized miniature satellites, participants gain practical experience in satellite systems engineering, technology demonstration, and scientific investigation.

No prior experience with electronics is required, and participants will also have the opportunity to send in their student-made experiments for flight as a payload aboard one of various missions.

July 2 marks the anniversary of our Civil Rights Act—a landmark moment in U.S. history of the Act signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson on July 2, 1964. It prohibited racial discrimination in public places, as well as providing for the integration of schools and other public facilities. It also made employment discrimination illegal and was considered the most sweeping civil rights legislation since Reconstruction.

Across PSESD, today’s students are doing more than studying the environment—they’re working to save it.

In Snoqualmie Valley School District, Meadowbrook School’s (MBS) secondary students recently took their commitment to environmental stewardship to the banks of the Snoqualmie River. Students partnered with Nature Vision and the Changing Seasons Farm, as part of their Blue Team program, to continue a vital, multi-year study of the local salmon spawning watershed near Carnation.
