This year, 2025, marks 80 years since the end of World War II -- and the Holocaust.
Established as a solemn annual commemoration of the Holocaust and its persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazis and their allies in World War II, the Holocaust Day of Remembrance (Yom HaShoah) is an official remembrance of the Holocaust that takes place each year.
The Day of Remembrance was established as the country’s annual observation and remembrance on of the Holocaust by the United States Congress, in tributes led by the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, which continues to lead global efforts to inform, educate, and (most of all) remember what happened once – so that it never happens again.
This year, Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, takes place with opening commemorations on Wednesday, April 23, and celebration and remembrance on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
