Encouraging Children's Love of Reading for Children's Book Week!
Children's Book Week

Encouraging a child to enjoy reading a good book is one of the most useful and vital things anyone can do, providing the chance for a lifetime of joy, curiosity, imagination, and literary appreciation.

As the U.S.’s longest-running national literacy initiative, Children’s Book Week takes place this year from May 6–12 and is an annual celebration of books for the young and young at heart. It’s always dedicated to honoring the gift of literacy and the joy of reading. During Children’s Book Week, over 2,300 schools, libraries, and bookstores across America will celebrate children’s literature from coast to coast.

Children’s Book Week is a vital annual event that helps to inspire us to take the time to instill that enjoyment of reading, setting the stage for greater opportunity for success across the educational landscape, as well as the foundation for further success as an adult.

2024 marks the 105th anniversary of Children’s Book Week, and this year’s theme is “No Rules. Just Read.” Get a children’s book; read a children’s book to others!

Celebrating our Education Support Professionals at PSESD

In education, the thousands who serve among the support professionals are an integral part of the industry and its importance.

That’s why it’s so important to celebrate their contributions each year for Education Support Professionals week, which takes place this year from March 10–14, 2025. The week was first noted for celebration in 1975 by PSE in order to salute the irreplaceable contributions of Education Support Professionals (or ESPs, for short) in the public school system.
