Puget Sound Educational Service District seeks a Special Education Teacher to provide academic and behavioral instruction for significantly behaviorally impacted students attending the ReLife Cooperative Program located in Puyallup, Washington. Responsibilities include instructional leadership and expertise in data informed unit & lesson planning grounded in Common Core Standards, IEP writing & management, the ability to read, develop and implement functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans, supervision of classroom staff, and flexibility to teach and respond in a challenging and fast paced educational setting. ReLife seeks teacher leaders who possess initiative, the ability to collaborate with diverse colleagues and families, and who bring forth their own unique expertise and passion.
The ReLife Program is a specialized cooperative program with a growing number of partners. ReLife offers a full continuum of multi-disciplinary services based on student strengths and needs to school districts in Pierce, King, and Thurston Counties. Instruction is delivered to students grades 2 through 12 in a site-based model focused on academics with a strong social/emotional component incorporated. The program encourages active parent and community involvement in an effort to serve the whole child. ReLife is a Center of Excellence dedicated to meeting the academic and behavioral needs of its students.

Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in job-related field
- Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education Endorsement
- Job-related experience teaching at-risk and/or behaviorally challenged youth in a behavior classroom and/or school (experience in Mental Health, Corrections, Alternative Education, or other educational settings may be considered).
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of positive behavior supports, behavior strategies and/or level systems
- Training in de-escalation techniques
- Teaching endorsement, Highly Qualified status, or experience with: Language Arts, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, and/or any area of CTE
