Early Learning Mental Health Therapist

Puget Sound Educational Service District seeks an Early Learning Mental Health Therapist to provide leadership and partnership within early learning systems to ensure mental health therapies for children and families in a range of early learning program services and systems. This position will serve as part of an interdisciplinary team to support families, early childhood providers, and educators, in meeting the needs of children and families.

Mental Health Therapist provides therapies to children and families enrolled in our early learning Eclipse program.  The purpose is to support healthy social and emotional development of young infants, toddlers and preschoolers as well as help their caregivers understand the environments they thrive in.

Early Learning Program Hiring Requirements

  • Portable Background Check: All Early Learning Program hires must have a cleared PSESD fingerprint background check (Washington State Patrol and FBI clearance) and a cleared Portable Background Check (PBC) before their hire date, and every three (3) years thereafter as a condition of continued employment.  Applicants without a current PBC should consider completing a PBC during the application phase.   • Required Health Documentation to be completed within 30 days of official start date for all Early Learning staff, including:
    • Completed Medical Release Form
    • Tuberculosis clearance (if not included on Medical Release Form) 
    • MMR vaccine documentation (if not included on Medical Release Form)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in job-related field

  • Professional experience working in programs inclusive of young children (birth-5) and their families in a mental health capacity

  • Washington State OSPI credential as a school counselor, social worker, or psychologist, OR a Washington State Dept. of Health license as mental health counselor, marriage and family therapist, social worker, psychologist, psychiatrist, or psychiatric nurse

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comprehensive early childhood program or group therapeutic setting experience

  • Consultation experience with childhood development, family dynamics and relationship building on individual/family, provider and/or community level

  • Experience promoting positive early childhood mental health

  • Experience working with diverse and/or low-income children and families

  • Experience with inter-disciplinary teams

  • Experience providing professional development, or providing clinical supervision or consultation
