Director, Early Learning Program Services

Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD) seeks a Director, Early Learning, Program Services to provide vision, leadership and direction to the program planning and service system design of PSESD’s early learning programs and services including Head Start (HS), Early Head Start (EHS), and Early Childhood Education Assistance Program (ECEAP) state-funded preschool. This position will also work in collaboration with pre-K to 3rd grade efforts in our PSESD region. A successful candidate will be able to ensure quality implementation of state and federal performance standards for comprehensive early learning services prenatal to kindergarten entry, and demonstrate strong collaborative leadership for program development leading to equitable outcomes where all children and their families leave their preschool experience ready for success in kindergarten and beyond.

Early Learning Program Hiring Requirements

  • Portable Background Check: All Early Learning Program hires must have a cleared PSESD fingerprint background check (Washington State Patrol and FBI clearance) and a cleared Portable Background Check (PBC) before their hire date, and every three (3) years thereafter as a condition of continued employment.  Applicants without a current PBC should consider completing a PBC during the application phase.   • Required Health Documentation to be completed within 30 days of official start date for all Early Learning staff, including:
    • Completed Medical Release Form
    • Tuberculosis clearance (if not included on Medical Release Form) 
    • MMR vaccine documentation (if not included on Medical Release Form)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Services, Health/Nutrition, or a related field
  • Recent professional experience working in positions of leadership within the Early Learning community
  • Experience in data use for practice improvement
  • Experience in design and delivery of services/programs serving young children and their families.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in development and management of large, complex budgets
  • Experience supervising/leading diverse groups around common goals
  • Experience with or knowledge of performance standards for Head Start and ECEAP
  • Experience with systems and outcomes development
  • Experience leading with a racial equity lens

Full Salary Range: $119,510 - $173,086 Annually Band S
