Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD) seeks a Payroll Manager to provide effective management of all payroll functions required for timely payment of all employees, including mandatory and permissive benefits; ensuring compliance of federal and state reporting; liaising with the business office during auditing, developing and policies and best practices, and supervising assigned personnel.
PSESD is one of nine regional educational agencies serving school districts, charter schools and state-approved private schools in Washington. Educational Service Districts, created by the legislature, are an essential regional delivery system for early learning and K-12 services in the state. BA or AA degree (HS Diploma/GED and significant progressively responsible job-related experience may substitute for BA/AA degree)
Experience with increasing levels of responsibility in specialized field of payroll management in a complex organization or other state governmental or municipal agency
Experience developing policies and best practices within a payroll environment
Experience liaising with executive management during audits
Experience overseeing the work of other staff

Experience in WesPac/Qmlativ or other large mainframe accounting system
Beginning-to-End Payroll process experience
Experience with word processing and complex spreadsheets
Department of Retirement Systems knowledge and/or experience
Experience with payroll taxes, timesheets and/or vendor invoice reconciliation

Position located in Renton, Washington. Schedule: Full-time, year-round. Salary: $72,134-$94,647/year. Salary offers consider candidate qualifications, experience and internal equity.
