Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD) invites a highly qualified Head Start Assistant Teacher to join our team of educators and work in a strong collaborative partnership with the Lead Teacher. Job duties include providing quality, comprehensive child development to Early Head Start children and their families.

Head Start is a child development and family support program for young children and their families. The heart of our Head Start program is preschool classes for children, where children participate in learning activities, social development and problem-solving.

PSESD is one of nine regional educational agencies serving school districts, charter schools and state-approved private schools in Washington. Educational Service Districts, created by the legislature, are an essential regional delivery system for early learning and K-12 services in the state.   • Current Childhood Development Associates Credential, or WA State ECE Initial Certificate (Short Cert of Specialization or Certificate)
  • Job-related experience in an early childhood setting.

Preferred Qualifications 

(Cover letter should specifically address any experience meeting the preferred qualifications)

  • Head Start, Early Head Start, or other comprehensive child development/family support program experience;
  • Experience working with low income and/or diverse populations;
  • Former or current Head Start/ECEAP participant/parent

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), school schedule position (180 days/year), based in White Center. Salary: Minimum $16.29 – 19.37/hour. Candidate offers consider experience, qualifications and internal equity. Excellent benefits/retirement package, including 11 paid holidays, participation in Washington State Department of Retirement System and Tax Sheltered Annuity Plan, and the opportunity to work in a friendly and customer-centric environment.
