Early Learning Family Engagement Coach

Puget Sound Educational School District seeks an Early Learning Coach for Family Engagement to provide differentiated, equity-based coaching and training to direct service staff in Early Head Start home-based and Early Head Start & Head Start center-based programs, and ECEAP. Coaching will focus on program standards and practices, high quality interactions with families, curriculum implementation, individualized supports for family, staffing, and family resources. As a Family Engagement Coach, this Coach will also apply family support/engagement principles into practice. This position will serve on an inter-disciplinary team to provide family engagement to build capacity and strengthen family outcomes. Use of a practice-based coaching model and the use and interpretation of data will be a regular part of practice to help build family support staff/home visitor capacity and to inform continually improving community early learning outcomes.

Early Learning Program Hiring Requirements

  • Portable Background Check: All Early Learning Program hires must have a cleared PSESD fingerprint background check (Washington State Patrol and FBI clearance) and a cleared Portable Background Check (PBC) before their hire date, and every three (3) years thereafter as a condition of continued employment.  Applicants without a current PBC should consider completing a PBC during the application phase.   • Required Health Documentation to be completed within 30 days of official start date for all Early Learning staff, including:
    • Completed Medical Release Form
    • Tuberculosis clearance (if not included on Medical Release Form) 
    • MMR vaccine documentation (if not included on Medical Release Form)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Services, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, OR a Bachelor’s Degree in unrelated field with 30 or more related college credits;
  • Professional experience mentoring, supervising, coaching, and/or providing technical assistance in early learning programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying Family Support/Family Engagement principles to practice;
  • Experience working with children ages birth-preschool age;
  • Head Start, Early Head Start, ECEAP, or other state funded preschool experience;
  • Experience providing group or staff training and/or teaching adult learners;
  • Knowledge of/experience working with and implementing programs for specific populations of children (i.e., English language learners, children with disabilities, children with challenging behaviors, and/or children with mental health concerns).
