Native American Education Coordinator

Puget Sound Educational Service District is seeking a part-time (20 hours per week) Native American Education Coordinator to provide cultural and educational support to Native American youth and their families in the Pierce County school districts we serve.

The PSESD Native American Education program works with over 500 American Indian/Alaska Native students in four Pierce County school districts (Franklin Pierce, Peninsula, Sumner-Bonney Lake, and University Place), supporting their educational and cultural needs through one-on-one and group meetings, mentorship, cultural lessons, advocacy, family nights, and field trips. This position would work with students from K-12 at various schools within our program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Native American Studies, Social Services, Behavioral Sciences, or related field, or an AA/Vocational degree in same and progressively responsible job-related work experience.
  • Experience serving Native American students and/or their families.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with students in multiple types of schools (elementary, middle, high school)
  • Enrolled tribal member from a tribe or nation from the United States or Canada

Job Type: Part time school schedule (approx. 6 hours/day, 3 days a week; 99 days/year, approximately 660 hours/year)
Salary: $26.03 – $34.15 hourly (Salary Band D)
