Early Learning Family Support Specialist - Part Time

Puget Sound Educational Service District seeks a part time Family Support Specialist to manage and implement the centralized ERSEA (Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, Attendance) system that supports a Head Start classroom at our Heritage Head Start program located in the Educare Learning Center. The Heritage Head Start Family Support Specialist works with Heritage’s Family Support Staff and interdisciplinary teaching team in the engagement and support of families through activities, practices and services that support families as the primary nurturers, experts, and teachers of their child to promote and sustain their child’s learning, development, academic, and life success.

In support of public health, employment with Puget Sound ESD requires Early Learning staff and staff in positions working directly with children or vulnerable adults have full COVID-19 vaccination.  There is no need for applicants to submit supporting documents.  Individuals that are offered positions will be informed of the process to submit their documents at the time of offer.

Early Learning Program Hiring Requirements

  • Portable Background Check: All Early Learning Program hires must have a cleared PSESD fingerprint background check (Washington State Patrol and FBI clearance) and a cleared Portable Background Check (PBC) before their hire date, and every three (3) years thereafter as a condition of continued employment.  Applicants without a current PBC should consider completing a PBC during the application phase.   • Required Health Documentation: A completed Medical Release Form is required within 14 days of official start date for all Early Learning staff.
    • For all Early Learning staff, a full COVID-19 vaccination is required.
    • For all Early Learning staff, tuberculosis clearance and verification of a completed MMR vaccine are required within 14 days of official start date.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or higher in Human Services, Social Services, Family Services, or Counseling, or a related degree and 30+ job-related credits

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with interpreters
  • Experience with data management systems
  • Experience working with low-income families, refugee and/or immigrant families, and/or families with limited English-speaking abilities.
  • Experience in Head Start, Early Head Start, ECEAP, or other comprehensive child development/family support program.
  • Community outreach and/or collaboration experience.

Job Type: Part Time, School Schedule (24 hours/week as three 8hr days)
Hiring Salary Range: $24.31 – $31.90 Hourly (Salary Band B)
Full Salary Range: $24.31 – $35.21 Hourly (Salary Band B)
