Director of Finance, Workers' Compensation Trust and Unemployment Pool

Puget Sound Workers’ Compensation Trust and Unemployment Pool (PSWCT/UP), under the administrative oversight of Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD), is a public entity risk pool providing coverage for and management of on-the-job injuries and unemployment claims for 34 school districts, PSESD, and their 45,000 employees in 6 counties within the State of Washington.  

PSWCT/UP is seeking a Director of Finance to provide leadership, strategic oversight, and management for the delivery of responsive, high-quality, and dependable financial and accounting services, including oversight of reserves and operational funds, preparation of financial statements and management reports, and internal audit functions.  The Director of Finance will serve as the subject matter expert and resource for providing financial information, guidance, and recommendations to PSESD and PSWCT/UP Leadership, Executive Advisory Boards, PSWCT/UP membership, and regulatory agencies. The Director of Finance also serves as a member of the PSWCT/UP Leadership Team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting field (Associate's degree in business, finance, or accounting field and 2+ years of progressively responsible work-related experience may substitute for Bachelor's degree).
  • Insurance and/or Risk Pool experience
  • Enterprise-wide financial reporting and accounting experience
  • Senior level supervisory/management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workers' compensation financial management and operations
  • Experience managing consulting actuaries and external financial auditors
  • Knowledge of Washington State insurance regulations
  • CPA, MBA, or MPA
