Head Start Advisory Committee

The Head Start Advisory Committee was approved by the Puget Sound ESD Board at their October 15, 2014, Board meeting. Board Public Official Training

REQUIRED School Board Training ESB5964 became law in 2014 and requires all school board members to complete training on the Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA), Public Records Act (PRA) and records retention. The training must be completed by all current office holders, and within 90 days of taking office following appointment or election of a new member. Refresher trainings must be completed by each school director every four years that they remain in office. Puget Sound ESD has the opportunity to use the Washington School Risk Management Pool (WSRMP) materials which includes materials an attorney WSRMP contracted with to provide two 15 minute recorded power point trainings that the ESD can use to meet this new requirement. The training is specific to what school board members would need to know. It is important to maintain records that each board member has completed the training as the Washington Supreme Court stated in 2010 that it will consider Public Records Act training in assessing penalties for public records violations.
