Creating and administering an in-house bilingual interpreter service involves several components. Select one or all of the following components, customized specifically for your school or district. Creating a Bilingual Interpreter Program Consultation and technical assistance to help you create an infrastructure for in-house interpreter services Interpreter Training Six-hour training at your site for bilingual staff and/or community members to become competent interpreters Staff Training How To Work With An Interpreter: A three-to-six hour training for staff working with interpreters. Participants learn appropriate strategies for working with interpreters and how to build positive cross-cultural relationships with students and families’ primary language is not English. Interpreter booster training Three hour joint training for previously trained district staff and interpreters to deepen knowledge and understanding of how to engage diverse communities through cultural brokers.
