Does Your Certificate Expire on June 30, 2010?

It is time to start thinking about maintaining the validity of your certificate! Please check the expiration date on your current certificate(s). If your expiration date is June 30, 2010, you must take action.

If you do not meet the requirements and/or do not submit your application to an ESD or OSPI on or before June 30, 2010, you may no longer be eligible for the certificate for which you are applying. To avoid any additional requirements, please submit your application prior to the expiration date printed on your certificate. The envelope must be postmarked on or before June 30, 2010.

Visit our website at www.psesd.org/certification for certification information and applications/forms. Applications are specific to the type of certificate currently held, so pay particular attention to the type (i.e., residency, professional or continuing) in order to complete the correct application.

If you hold a continuing certificate that is maintained every five years with 150 clock hours and/or 15 quarter hours of credits OR in lieu of clock hours, a copy of a National Board Certificate, you must complete Form 1211 (Continuing Renewal Application). Send the application directly to OSPI—the address is on top of the application page. There is no fee and no transcripts are required. Individuals who submit clock hour reports will not receive a permit unless OSPI is notified they are teaching summer school. Please notify OSPI if that is the case.

If you hold a first issue residency certificate with a five-year expiration date or no expiration date and you have worked two consecutive years at one Washington school district since your residency certificate was issued, please complete the Residency Reissuance Application (PDF). Send the application directly to OSPI— the address is at the top of the application. There is no fee and no transcripts are required. If a permit is desired, PSESD can issue a temporary 180-day permit for $20. Submit a completed application form and fee to the PSESD certification office for processing.
